Executive Director's Message
Hello and welcome to the Many Rivers Counselling and Support Services Society, an exceptional cohort and team of professional service providers! With four offices located in Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Dawson City and Haines Junction, our dedicated Many Rivers staff is committed to providing quality services to Yukon communities. Confidential services are available at no cost to individuals, couples and families seeking assistance and support. Services are provided with your needs and respect as a priority.
Many Rivers is a part of your community, and has been for nearly fifty years. We are a charitable, non-profit organization overseen by a committed Board of Directors. Our organization is dedicated to the vision of "healthy individuals and families living in supportive communities strengthened by accessible, high quality counselling and service programs".

Brent Ramsay, MBA
Brent Ramsay has worked in the human services field for over twenty-five years in client service, mediation, consulting and administration. Brent has a Master’s of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and a B.A. Honours (Psych) from University of Saskatchewan. He is completing his Doctorate of Business Administration from the Paris School of Business.
He has served as Executive Director for Alberta Community Council on HIV, West Central Crisis & Family Support Services and Health Director for Nazko First Nation.
Brent is a long-standing instructor with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and an advanced practitioner with the Association for Conflict Resolution and the Academy of Professional Family Mediators.
Brent is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has served on numerous Boards and committees and previously provided consultation and change management services to organizations across Canada.
Many Rivers Would Like To Introduce Our Staff Team!
Jennifer Jackson, Director of Finance & Benefits
Jennifer Jackson has worked in the Administrative Field for over 15 years. She was born in Whitehorse, Yukon and moved to Vancouver, BC for a number of years to work and study Business Administration at Capilano University.
Her background in the banking, home security, and the mining industries while in Vancouver has led to a well-rounded knowledge base in her career. Finance has been a natural fit with her experience and education. She has continued updating her education, by participating in training, workshops, financial conferences, online courses, as well as courses offer locally at Yukon College.
Jennifer moved back to her hometown of Whitehorse in May 2012 and became part of the Many Rivers Team in September 2012.
Michelle Vainio, Director of Intake & Administration
Michelle has been a member of the Many Rivers team since January 2014.
Having worked for almost 20 years in office settings, she has a vast range of experiences. Michelle very much enjoys working in the administrative field. She particularly likes working collaboratively in a healthy environment that encourages team building.
Michelle’s notable public life experiences include serving on many boards and committees dedicated to enhancing the well-being of others. She has organized many community events and she is very passionate about volunteering.
Mary DeVan, Director of Clinical Services
Mary DeVan is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. She holds a Masters in Sociology and a Masters in Counselling, and has worked in the human service field for 25 years both as a clinician and as a clinical supervisor.
Mary also offers training to counsellors, and is a group facilitator.
Tameeza Samji, Consulting Psychologist
Tameeza is a Registered Clinical Psychologist originally from Calgary presenting living in San Francisco, California. Tameeza has a specialized background in harm reduction and services to the GLBT community.
Tameeza provides periodic consultation to the Many Rivers Outreach Van client services.
Darby MacWilliam, Outreach Van Coordinator
Darby moved to Whitehorse in October 2016 from Victoria, B.C. She completed her B.A. in Health and Community Services from University of Victoria. While studying in Victoria, Darby worked as a Community Support Worker in an adult day program encouraging active lifestyles and community involvement for clients. She is committed to supporting the many members of Whitehorse’s community through the services the Outreach Van has to offer, and is happy to be a part of Many Rivers Counselling and Support Services.
Nathan Schultz, Special Project YDSL Coordinator
Nathan Schultz has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary, and is currently completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Nathan’s first foray into the Yukon was in 1998 when he moved to Dawson City from Scarborough Ontario. Eventually he made his way to Whitehorse, and after graduating, Calgary in the pursuit of his studies. After several years of big city life and learning, Nathan returned to the Yukon to set roots and start giving back to the community that raised him. After a year of volunteering with the Yukon Distress and Support Line, Nathan was glad and excited to take on the role of Special Project Coordinator with the YDSL.
Jordan Aslett, MSW
Jordan consults with Many Rivers on the development and implementation of special projects involving agency learning. He currently oversees the implementation and processing of Client Feedback and Agency-wide instruments, as well as the Clinical Internship initiative. Jordan holds Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from Ryerson University. He has worked in counselling, crisis intervention, and program administration for over 13 years, primarily in services for children and youth. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Work through Memorial University (Newfoundland). Jordan is also a faculty member in the Bachelor of Social Work program at Yukon College where he teaches community practice, research and policy.
Amanda Corothers, Administrative Assistant
Amanda was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. She has worked in the customer service field for 7 years and is updating her education by attending the Business Administration program at Yukon College.
Driven by her compassion and supportive nature towards people, Amanda has a high level of motivation to be part of the team. She respects and appreciates what Many Rivers has to offer to the community and is excited about providing a warm welcoming experience to the community.
Amanda’s son believes that her superpower is Kindness. She is certain that a single act of kindness can make all the difference in someone’s life. Some other wonderful traits she has to offer are that she is open-minded, caring, cheerful, friendly, and outgoing. Amanda loves spending time with her son and dog. On her spare time she enjoys music, dancing, yoga, and meditation.
Leatha Anderson, Administrative Assistant
Leatha Anderson joined the Many Rivers admin team in Oct 2008. She works full time in our Watson Lake office. Leatha is a long time Yukoner. She volunteers for the Watson Lake Riding Association, 4-H, and 4-H Yukon.
Leatha has two daughters and a son-in-law. If she is not at the office you can find her hanging out with her kids, cats, dog or horse.
Kristine Fisher, Administrative Assistant
Kristine is a 3rd generation Yukoner, born and raised in Whitehorse. She comes to Many Rivers with background in retail business and administration. She is a people person with love and respect for all living things. Being in nature and spending time with her children, family and friends is most important to her.
Kristine is very happy to be working within an organization that embraces kindness, compassion, respect and integrity.
About our Board of Directors
A board of directors, on behalf of the Yukon community, is formed to determine and assure achievement of the ends set by the Board in pursuit of their vision. They also see that Many Rivers avoids unacceptable actions and situations.
