We would like to thank all our sponsors, without whose generous support we would not be able to provide consistent and professional service to so many Yukon communities. We salute your sense of community involvement.

Special Thanks to Air Canada air canada

Air Canada generously donated four tickets to anywhere in Canada for professional development of our staff team and to bring in speakers
for our Young Women's Voices project.

Young Women's Voices: The Air Canada flight donations were used to enable the participation of two young female Aboriginal role models: Lindsay Knight (Eekwoll) and Jessica Yee.

Lindsay Knight performed onstage with the Young Women‘s Voices (YWV) participants at the Youth Connex event in Whitehorse, and provided feedback and encouragement to participants on using performance art as a means of awareness raising on important social issues.

Jessica Yee provided a workshop on Indigenous Feminism at the end of the project. She was the final presenter for YWV. She also partnered with YWV for a community screening of her film Highway of Hope and the YWV film Rise at the Alpine Bakery. This event was a community partnership between the Yukon Chapter of the Young Feminist Movement of Canada, Victoria Faulkner Women's Centre

Professional Development: Air Canada also donated two tickets to anywhere in Canada for professional development of our Counsellors. Beckie Huston and Leo Lobbestael used these tickets.

Leo Lobbestael participated in a 3 day Psychology conference in Chicago. This conference was held by the Carl Rogers Institute of Chicago and was in support of family and couples therapy from a Rogerian perspective.

Beckie Huston, Outreach Van Coordinator attended Canadian Professional Management Ser-vices training for Supervisors in Vancouver. This training provided a valuable framework for Beckie’s work coordinating staff and volunteers on the Outreach Van. At the same time, Beckie was able to tour the East Hastings Street area with outreach service providers working with marginalized people living on the streets of Vancouver. Important connections and opportunities for collaboration and networking with other service providers were made. Benefits of this trip are further expanding our Harm Reduction network and creating a closer relationship with outreach services in BC.

Many thanks to Air Canada for helping to make this happen for the benefit of the Whitehorse community.

Young Women’s Voices was an innovative project run by Many Rivers Counselling and Support Services designed to give young women in Whitehorse an opportunity to find their voice through creative self-expression, as well as gain support and learn more about issues that are important to them. These vibrant young women collaboratively created short films, a play, and a dance performance which they combined
into an extremely well recieved public performance in December of 2009, RISE: A Multimedia Performance Art Show. The young women did everything from set design, costumes, advertising and script writing. Each one beamed with a sense of accomplishment on stage at the end of the performance. The group also produced a booklet of creative writing by the participants, and two short documentaries made in collaboration with REEL youth. The Young Womens Voices project was designed and implemented by young women, for young women. Each young woman chose the performance medium she would use in the final show. Each gained confidence and felt invested in their contributions to the event. They felt proud for speaking out. RISE, the short film on violence against women can be viewed by going to the website www.reelyouth.ca/gallery and clicking on the Many Rivers logo. Or go directly to the Whitehorse content here. Thank you to our sponsors, the Crime Prevention and Victim Services Trust Fund, the Canadian Womens Foundation and Status of Women Canada.
